Who knew common sense could be poignant and brilliant? The Staten Island accent adds additional smiles.

Some links.
Here are some awesome websites that I usually go to on a daily basis. Some are girly, some are geeky but all of them are interesting reads.
Jezebel is a site that focuses on pop culture, politics, some fashion but mostly it's great articles by some amazing writers with a womens view on all topics.
I was made aware of this site after one of my favorite bloggers, Tracie Egan (formerly known as SlutMachine) began working there over a year ago.
Her site OneDataTime isn't updated that often, but its still a gooder.
I first discovered her site though, through yet another favorite Blogger, Rich of FourFour fame almost 4 years ago.
He has an amazing site, made most popular because of his cat Winston. Rich is great a making video compilations as well as loving/mocking his pop culture idols. He reviews horror movies, trashes the trashiest celebrities and he also does recaps for all my favorite completely guilty pleasure TV shows at his day job on the VH1 website. Here are some of his brilliant videos:
Mariah Carey in all her weird glory
Celine Dion is fucking amazing (My favorite by far)
And finally, Rich and Tracie joined forces to create the drug-infuced green haze advice column Pot Psychology. Also a favorite.
Another site I've been very into for a couple years is The Daily Coyote.
Schreve Stockton writes this site as well as Vespa Vagabond .
More to come!

Belated Xmas with Mom and Robert

Mom and Robert before the present opening bonanza.

Chris showing the best cookie reaction ever. I love getting and giving homemade food. As a receiver, nothing makes me more happy than knowing someone wants to feed me. As a giver, it brings alot of joy knowing that someone enjoys the treats I made especially for them. Food = comfort = love. Fucked up, but yes it's true.

Me and my mama.
And now,
Some of the mega awesome things I got for christmas:
as seen here:
The amazing Amy Sedaris's book:
Shreve Stockon's Daily Coyote book
Plus an insane amount of kitchen stuff. If anybody had told me last year that I would be cooking 6 times a week, and absolutely loving it no less, I would have laughed in their face then ordered a pizza. Pretty strange how one year can make all the difference. Three cheers for acknowledging that some stereotypical feminine qualities and traits aren't a bad thing!

Classy Dames: Amy Sedaris

First of all, Amy Sedaris is by far one of the coolest women ever. She's outrageously funny, she considers herself a housewife with no husband, she co-created "Strangers With Candy" with Stephen Colbert, and she's one of my heroines.. And by heroine I mean my female hero.. I don't want to inject her and listen to jazz. (Liz Lemon quote -natch)
Here's a video of her making cakes on the Martha Stewart Show. I think either her jokes were flying right over Martha's head or she just chose to ignore them. Either way, I love it.
Second of all, buy me this for Christmas please:
This book is Amy's take on entertaining the old fashioned way, when it was "charmingly old-fashioned, like courtship or back alley abortions." It offers hilarious offbeat advice for dinner parties and such (which won't necessarily be useful as I'm a hermit with no friends, but funny none the less). Want. Below is a video of her promoting it on Amazon
Some random goodness about Amy:
-She's the younger sister of amazingly witty and if-he-was-straight-I'd-do-him David Sedaris (Author extraordinaire and NPR genius)
-She's developing her own scripted/improv tv show for next year
-She's been on the cover of Bust magazine more than any other person. (Best magazine ever by the by, it's the Anti-Cosmo for all you ladies out there)
Finally, she's been on Letterman too many times to count, below is a video montage of some of her many strange moments.

R.I.P Baby Blue Eyes

Oh man today is a sad day. When I watched Cool Hand Luke for the first time, I swear to Jebus it made me a woman. Paul Newman was one sexy, debonair and selfless man. Every penny he earned through his "Newman's Own" company was given to charity, over 175 million dollars. He was an avid race car driver up until he was 80 years old. May his legacy and delicious sauces live on forever. Below is a tribute to his sexiness and quotes proving just what kind of a real man he was.
When he earned a spot on Nixon's blacklist, he told reporters it was, "the highest single honor I've ever received"
“You only grow when you are alone.”
On the possibility of cheating on his wife, married 50 years, "Why would I go out for a hamburger when I have steak at home?"
“If you don't have enemies, you don't have character.”
I tweak my nose to you.

Pic of zee Week - Classy Dame Shreve Stockton addition

Photo from Daily Coyote
Shreve Stockton is a phenomenal woman and I have been fascinated with her websites for over a year now. I first found her via her Vespa Vagabond blog because at the time I was planning on driving across country to setup in Saint John, NB to buy some property and start a new life. Some changes happened in my life that changed my mind but it's still a very real dream.
Shreve is a 30 year old woman who first decided to ride her vespa across country from San Francisco to New York. Along the way she fell in love with Wyoming and after arriving in New York went back to Wyoming for good. There she saved a coyote pup and started the photo blog Daily Coyote. The website became so popular that she was offered a book deal of the same title which will be released soon. Want.

Classy Dame
Zoe Bell is a complete badass.
She's a 29 year old Kiwi who was Uma Thurman's stunt double in Kill Bill Volume 1&2, plus a whole slew of television stunt work. Quentin Tarantino loved her work from Kill Bill and actually wrote a role for her in his last movie, DeathProof , playing herself. She also has a documentary about herself and Jeannie Epper, one of the first female stunt women ever. I haven't seen the documentary Double Dare yet, but I ordered it from Amazon and am not-so patiently waiting for it.
Below is a video introduction to the awesomeness that is Ms. Bell.

Classy Dame
This be Leslie:
(Ok that's a pic of her cat, Inspector Muddog, just in case she wasn't cool with her face being on the "Information Superhighway")
This dame is so classy, let me just break it down for you:
First off, she hasn't seen me in almost four years, since Canada World Youth in Africa. Not only is she still the warmest, sweetest person I know, but she actually managed to get even more beautiful. She met me at the bus station and drove me to her house in a smallish town outside outside of Peterborough. She greeted me with beers, and burgers with cheese and bacon. As we all should know, this is what the Michelle Beast craves.
I met her man and we hung out at their lovely house and spent the night watching movies and eating, two of my favorite pastimes.

When they dropped me off at the train station in Coburg, ON the next day I discovered yet again just how awesome Leslie is; she made me an amazing travel pack. Various sandwiches, a brick of cheese and trashy magazines (among many, many other things) for my 27 hour train ride. How sad that the people I'm closest to live so far away. (This means you lady)

Classy Dame
Tina Fey is so cool, she's totally my hero. Her character on 30 Rock is so close to everything I love and hate about myself. Just a few prime examples:
30 Rock gold
On the Howard Stern Show calling Paris Hilton a piece of shit.
And finally Liz Lemon drunk dialing and singing Alanis Morrisette.
